Almost Perfect

Not too bad for his first ever post season start.  The only way it could have been better would have been if he did not walk a batter.  Roy Halladay proved why he is the best pitcher in baseball, throwing a no hitter in game 1 of the playoffs against the Cincinnati Reds.  This was his second no hitter of the season.  He threw a perfect game earlier in the year against the Marlins.  This performance is even more impressive considering it came in a playoff game.  This was only the second no hitter in the history of the playoffs (Don Larson's perfect game in the 1956 World Series).  Some wondered if Halladay would carry over his regular season dominance into the post season, and he proved to be ready for the challenge.  It was an amazing performance and the Philly crowd was electric.

With Halladay, Oswalt, and Hammels, the Phillies are the favorite to win the World Series.  Each one of them is a legit ace.  Oswalt was great when pitching for Houston in the playoffs and Hammels was the World Series MVP two seasons ago.  We also should not forget how awesome their offense is.  What makes them even better is how mentally tough they are.  They raise their level of play in the biggest games.  That is why they have been to back to back World Series.  As a fan of the National league New York team, I am used to seeing a team choke when the games get bigger.  The Phillies continue to embrace the challenge, and it will be very difficult for anyone to defeat them.
