"Play Like a Jet"

Rex Ryan's slogan this season has been "Play Like a Jet".  If you watched "Hard Knocks", it was posted all over the Jets practice facility.  So what does "Play Like a Jet" mean?  Is it a good thing or bad thing because playing like a Jet has not always been very positive.  Is he trying to change the words of the classical song from West Side Story?  You never know what Rex is up to.  So after lots of time and effort thinking about this, I have finally figured out what playing like a Jet means.

"Play Like a Jet" means

Giving the finger to the crowd at an MMA event during the Super Bowl (Nice picture Rex)

Having an undeserving sense of accomplishment

Constantly yapping your mouth when you have never won a thing in life

Making guarantees which you can not back up

Having cheesy commercials in every New York City taxi saying "It's Go Time"- awful

Overcharging your season tickets and not being able to sell them all- Yay to PSL's

Eating cheese burgers on the practice field

Having 7 kids with 7 women

Not knowing your 7 kids names

Harassing a female reporter

Driving drunk with a .16

Allowing your friend and teammate to drive home drunk

Joining the drunk driver as passengers in his car

Allowing the drunk driver to go unpunished by letting him play- Oh wait, he isn't starting- sorry- Aren't they so harsh

So that is what I came up with.  If anyone has others they would like to share, please do so in the comment box or my Facebook page.

The Bearded Jack-Ass

I was shocked to hear about Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards getting arrested for drunk driving.   How could something like that happen to him? Isn't he such a upstanding guy and model citizen?   He showed how much of a class act he was on Sunday getting a 15 yard penalty for taunting after scoring a touchdown.  He was lucky not to get one after taunting again when catching a two point conversion.  Even Rex was not happy about his behavior during the game, and it takes a lot for Rex to be mad about a player.  Edwards is also the same guy that punched out someone half his size in a Cleveland night club last year.  Cleveland had enough of him and shipped him off to the Jets.

It gets me so annoyed when celebrities and athletes get arrested for drunk driving.  Can't they afford to hire a driver or  call a cab?  If I had that type of money, I would never drive.  Going out and having a few drinks for a good time is no big deal,  just don't get in front of a wheel.  With all the stories on the news about deaths caused by drunk drivers, you would think Edwards would know better.  To make it worst, he was double the legal limit, and teammates D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Vernon Gholston were with him.  I guess friends do let friends drive drunk.  The real icing on the cake here is that the Jets offer a free luxury limo car service for their players to prevent drunk driving.

This was such a selfish move by Edwards.  The Jets have high hopes for a big season, and Edwards must play a big part for that to happen.  This is not something the Jets want to deal with.  Edwards is on already on probation for the fight in Cleveland, and  risks further discipline by the Jets and NFL.   Furthermore, the NFL has cracked down on their players.  They can not be happy about seeing another player getting arrested.  The NBA gets a bad rap for having so many troubled players, but it seems like the NFL is one hundred times worse.  It seems like this is a common occurrence in the league each week.  I would be shocked if the league or Jets do not respond with some type of suspension.

Speaking of Common occurances this isn't the first time Braylon has been involved in a late night of drinking ending with a DUI charge. In July 2009, Edwards was drinking with then-fellow Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth at a Miami hotel and nightclub, racking up a bill of totalling $3,443, which included $1,500 on Perrier-Jouet Rose champagne and $695 on Grey Goose vodka. Stallworth's credit card receipts showed he sent a $375 bottle of Patron Silver to Edwards' table, and ordered five shots of the tequila for $90. After their night of drinking, Stallworth fatally struck 59-year-old pedestrian Mario Reyes with his vehicle. Stallworth was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter and apparently buying the family of the victims guilt away from them.

The Jets are preparing this week to face the 2-0 Miami Dolphins, and now they must deal with this garbage. I guess all the publicity received with "Hard Knocks" was not enough.  Edwards probably wishes "Hard Knocks" filmed his night out drinking because the camera guy could have driven him home.

Back on Track

The Jets are going to the Super Bowl.  That will probably be the talk coming out of the locker room after their 28-14 victory over the New England Patriots.  The team of talk finally came out and backed it up on the field.  This was a must win for the team.  They would have been tortured by the town had they begun the season 0-2.  The pressure is now off and they can focus on Miami next week.

The training wheels were taken off Mark Sanchez and the offense.  They finally allowed him to throw the ball more than 5 yards.  Sanchez had the best game of his career throwing for a career high, 3 touchdown passes.  Jets fans fear of Sanchez being a bust can now go away for one week.

Despite his stupid taunting penalty, Braylon Edwards played a solid game, shockingly not dropping any balls.  Additionally, the running game was solid with LaDainian Tomlinson (Refuse to call him L.T) looking like he did back in his early San Diego days.  The biggest concern the Jets should have on offense is their offensive line can't pass block.  Sanchez was almost killed on several plays.  This so called great offensive line needs to step up their game, or Sanchez might be taken off the field on a stretcher.

The defense played well despite losing their best player, Darelle Revis, to a hamstring injury.  It was not shocking to see Revis get hurt.  That is what happens when you sit out all of training camp.  I don't think he was practicing guarding Randy Moss while hanging out in Florida all summer.  The defense actually played better after Revis got hurt and left the game.  Antonio Cromartie finally realized he has to look at the ball while covering a receiver.  I guess it is difficult to focus on the nooks and crannies of coverage while so focused on paying alimony for 7 kids, but for one week he looked somewhat capable.

Rex can make his Super Bowl proclamations this week, but the Jets have a huge game in Miami.  The Dolphins upset the Vikings on the road and are off to a 2-0 start.  Although it is still very early in the season, this is a very important game for the Jets to win.  The Jets lost both games to Miami last season.  They can not allow Miami to defeat them again and get off to a 3-0 start.

The Jets did a lot of talking all off season and were shut up by the Ravens in week one.  They kept quiet all week and played a good game in defeating the Patriots.  Hopefully they learned talk is cheap in the NFL and will keep their mouths shut this week.  Unfortunately, winning will be the drug accelerating their mouths and they won't shut up all week.  They are once again the best and Rex will need to proclaim it to the world.

Early Season Disappointments

High expectations before the season and 0-2 to begin it is not what a football team wants to face.  It only makes the fans want to jump off their roofs and the organization to panic.  The Vikings and Cowboys had high expectations, and now their seasons are on the brink.  0-2 does not necessarily mean your season is over though.  There have been teams in the past that have recovered and turned their seasons around.   Dallas in 1993 and New England in 2003 both won the Super Bowl after starting the season 0-2.   Despite those two situations, it is not something a team wants.  The road to the playoffs becomes a much more difficult task.

The Cowboys have awful coaching.  Wade Phillips looks clueless, with that "dumb ass" look constantly on his face.  He has won one playoff game his entire career.  He should have been fired 3 years ago after they lost to the Giants in the playoffs.  You would think an owner like Jerry Jones would have hired a big time coach to go with that fancy new stadium, yet he continues to stick with Phillips.  It makes me think Phillips has pictures of Jones wearing women's panties or something to that extent.  All we hear about is how much talent the Cowboys have, yet they never get the job done.  This team has won one playoff game since the hay day of Aikman, Emmit, and Irvin.  I like Tony Romo, but something is missing with him.  It always seems like he chokes in the big spot.  The reality is they are not that good.  Eventually everyone will come to that conclusion.  If they wore a different jersey, people would see them for what they are; a mediocre team.

Highlights from today's game:

The Vikings main problem is Brett Favre is old and playing like an old man.  He did his usual sitting out all off season and developed no chemistry with his teammates.  He has looked extremely rusty the first two weeks.  He also lost Sidney Rice before the season began and Percey Harvin gets hurt more than a New York Met.  Favre was a human interception in his prime, and as an old man, will only get worst.  He had a great season last year, but we all saw how bad he was the year before with the Jets.  Maybe last year was a fluke.  He is old and eventually it all has to come to an end.  Maybe we are seeing the end now.

Plenty of Seats Available

It was a big week in New York City.  All the females, metro-sexuals, and homosexuals had fashion week.  The Giants opened up their new stadium against the Panthers on Sunday.  The Jets opened their new stadium (same as the Giants) against the Ravens on Monday Night Football.  The Yankees were in Tampa battling the Rays for first place.  Jay Z and Eminem had a two night concert at Yankee Stadium.  There was something else going on too, but it is slipping my mind.  It's something blue and orange.  It's something with a stupid looking man wearing a huge baseball on his head.  Oh yeah, how could I forget, the Mets played the Pirates at Citi Field.

With so many great events occurring, I asked myself, who would go to a Met Pirate game?  The Pirates are even more pathetic than the Mets.  So I turned on SNY and if there were 5,000 people in the stadium, that would be a lot.  Personally, I would not go to a game if someone gave me tickets for free.  I would actually force them to pay me money to go to the game.  This is not good for a franchise already hemorrhaging money.  It is another bad season for the Mets.  They are a boring .500 team and it is difficult to find reasons to watch them anymore.

After a lot of thought,  I came up with several different reasons to go to Citi Field this month:

Stub Hub- Going to a baseball game can be very expensive, but a Met game in September is not.  Tickets for good seats is at an all time low price.

Shake Shack- I live near the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park and it is always packed.  The lines are so long, you would think they are selling sexual acts.  With nobody going to Citi Field, maybe the line for the Shake Shack won't be so long.

Beltran's Right Ear Mole- It's so ugly and freaky to look at, and I am obsessed wtih it.  That thing was in HD before HD even existed.  One day that thing has to fall off, and I want to be there when it happens.

Mr. Met- one of these days a frustrated fan needs to start beating the crap out of him.  Either that or maybe  one day he will just drop dead.

The Met Family Room- It was the site for the Main Event battle between K-Rod and his girlfriend's dad.  Who knows what will happen in there next.

Yell profanities at Omar Minaya and Jeff Wilpon in the press box- Both of them are worthless and should be hung upside down from the Citi Field rafters

See the young phenom Jenrry Mejia pitch- Oh wait, he is hurt

See Johan Santana pitch- Oh wait, he is hurt too

See Jose Reyes play- Surprisingly, not hurt

Catch a David Wright overthrown ball while sitting in your cheaply acquired Stub Hub seats on the first baseline.

That is really it.  I am starting to shoot blanks.  In all honesty there is no reason to go to Citi Field and watch that miserable franchise play.  Met fans just to wait for next season.  My guess is, tickets will be very available.

Attention Detroit: Hide Your Dogs

Detroit is a city dealing with tough times.  Their economy has suffered more than any other city in this country.   They have to suffer as Lions fans and all the miserable years the franchise has faced.  They will also suffer having games blacked out because they will not be able to sell out every home game.  To add to their problems, this week the people have to worry about the "dog killer" Michael Vick coming to town.  The "dog killer" might lerk around searching for new bait to throw into a ring.  The slogan of the week in Detroit should be Protect Your Pooch.

The "dog killer" will be in Detroit as a member of the Eagles, and this weeks starting quarterback.  Eagles starter Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion in last week's game against the Packers.  Vick came into the game and looked like the same old Michael Vick.  He was running around the field,
throwing the ball, and looked the best he has since out of prison.  Since being out of prison and back in the league, he has looked very rusty.  The rust was probably due to the fact that in prison, instead of throwing passes, he was practing catching soap.

I hope the Lions absolutly destroy him.  Vick is a disgrace to society.  What he did to those dogs is the cruelest possible act a human being can perform.  It was inhumane.  I have a dog and could never imagine doing anything to harm him.  He must be such a messed up individual to do what he did.  Now we are supposed to forgive him becasue Tony Dungy says he is a changed man?

Best case scenerio is this: The Lions defense grabs Vick and throws his ass to the ground. Someone jumps in and hits him again as he is down. They then bring out a bucket of water, and hold Vick's head down in it to make him feel the pain and suffering he caused those dogs.  Unfortunetly we are talking about the Lions, and I see Vick and the Eagles dominating the game.

We live in an unfair society.  If he ever performed  those acts on a human being, he would have been sent to the chair.  Instead because it was "only" dogs, he is back playing football and making millions of dollars.  Only in America.

Jets in Need of Female Sensitivity?

I was holding back, but I need to comment on the Jets and female reporter Ines Sainz.  Let's just say she is no Hannah Storm or even an Erin Andrews.  Erin Andrews only wears stuff like that before going into the shower.  Sainz walks around these football players with a huge bulls-eye on her and yes I am referring to her chest and ass.

I am writing this knowing my wife, mother, mother-in-law, and any other female in my life will want to kill me after they read this.  We live in a PC world and everything said and done offends someone.  I am sick of it.  Maybe it is because I say very offensive things or because I am not offended by anything. The fact of the matter is,she's a hot chick wearing skimpy clothing around a bunch of juiced up football players and horny old coaches.  Did people really expect anything different?

Big deal if Rex Ryan and a coach threw some footballs near her.  Did anyone watch American Pie 2 when Stifler threw a pass to Oz near a group of hot chicks?  It is a classic pick up move.  Cry me a river that a bunch of guys in the locker room shouted out a few cat calls.  That's what guys do.  Should they have held the door open for her or laid their coats on the ground for her to walk on so her feet don't get dirty?  She pranced around wanting the attention, and gained so much publicity from all of this.  Did anyone even know who Ines Sainz was before this incident?

The funniest part of all this is the Jets are going to have a woman from the Association for Women in Sports Media address the team.  She will teach them how to become more sensitive towards a woman's needs.  This situation reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Peter is forced to go on a women's sensitivity retreat and comes back acting like a woman.  Just like Peter Griffin, Rex Ryan is also a fat bastard.  I can visualize jolly old Rex bonding with women and getting in touch with his feminine side.  Rex will start crying during press conferences instead of bragging how his team is so wonderful.

I really hate our society.  We are so freakin sensitive.  Does anyone watch the show Mad Men?  Do you see how women were treated back in the day?  Women have it a thousand times better today.  Ines Sainz should take what happened as a compliment.  She is a hot piece of ass and the guys were joking around with her.  Would she have liked it if she was ignored?  If she doesn't want the attention, she should walk around in a pants suit.  Boys will be boys and locker room behavior has a different code of law.  The locker room is a sacred place where men are men and should be allowed to say and act how they want.  That is their man cave.  If the women are too sensitive to handle that, they should stay out.
