Back on Track

The Jets are going to the Super Bowl.  That will probably be the talk coming out of the locker room after their 28-14 victory over the New England Patriots.  The team of talk finally came out and backed it up on the field.  This was a must win for the team.  They would have been tortured by the town had they begun the season 0-2.  The pressure is now off and they can focus on Miami next week.

The training wheels were taken off Mark Sanchez and the offense.  They finally allowed him to throw the ball more than 5 yards.  Sanchez had the best game of his career throwing for a career high, 3 touchdown passes.  Jets fans fear of Sanchez being a bust can now go away for one week.

Despite his stupid taunting penalty, Braylon Edwards played a solid game, shockingly not dropping any balls.  Additionally, the running game was solid with LaDainian Tomlinson (Refuse to call him L.T) looking like he did back in his early San Diego days.  The biggest concern the Jets should have on offense is their offensive line can't pass block.  Sanchez was almost killed on several plays.  This so called great offensive line needs to step up their game, or Sanchez might be taken off the field on a stretcher.

The defense played well despite losing their best player, Darelle Revis, to a hamstring injury.  It was not shocking to see Revis get hurt.  That is what happens when you sit out all of training camp.  I don't think he was practicing guarding Randy Moss while hanging out in Florida all summer.  The defense actually played better after Revis got hurt and left the game.  Antonio Cromartie finally realized he has to look at the ball while covering a receiver.  I guess it is difficult to focus on the nooks and crannies of coverage while so focused on paying alimony for 7 kids, but for one week he looked somewhat capable.

Rex can make his Super Bowl proclamations this week, but the Jets have a huge game in Miami.  The Dolphins upset the Vikings on the road and are off to a 2-0 start.  Although it is still very early in the season, this is a very important game for the Jets to win.  The Jets lost both games to Miami last season.  They can not allow Miami to defeat them again and get off to a 3-0 start.

The Jets did a lot of talking all off season and were shut up by the Ravens in week one.  They kept quiet all week and played a good game in defeating the Patriots.  Hopefully they learned talk is cheap in the NFL and will keep their mouths shut this week.  Unfortunately, winning will be the drug accelerating their mouths and they won't shut up all week.  They are once again the best and Rex will need to proclaim it to the world.
